The long-awaited Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) regulations have been unveiled by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and released this morning. The rule will be published in the Federal Register on Friday, April 19, but the unpublished rule is available now. The rule will go into effect 60 days from April 19 (June 18, 2024), so now is the time for employers to become familiar with how they are required to accommodate their pregnant employees. Case law involving the PWFA is scarce, so the regulations provide some much-needed guidance.
